They analyze a product using a simple life cycle assessment that assigns fictional numerical values for different steps in the life cycle. They use their analysis to compare the impacts of their product to other products, as well as suggest ways to reduce the product's environmental impact based on their analysis. ...less |

| Able Sports |
This activity focuses on getting the students to think about disabilities and how they can make some aspects of life more difficult. The students are asked to pick a disability and design a new kind of sport for it. |

| Air - Is It Really There? |
By watching and performing several simple experiments, students develop an understanding of the properties of air: it has mass, it takes up space, it can move, it exerts pressure, it can do work. |

| Air Pressure |
Air pressure is pushing on us all the time although we do not usually notice it. This activity will discuss the units of pressure and give the students a sense of just how much air pressure is pushing on them. |

In the following activity, students will experience the difficulty that fishermen experience while trying to isolate a target species when a variety of animals are found in the area of interest. The class will then discuss the large magnitude of this problem. Students will practice their data acquisition and analysis skills, through the collection of data and processing of this information to deduce trends on 'target species' distribution. Students will conclude the activity by discussing how bycatch impacts their lives and whether or not it is an important environmental issue that we need to address. As an extension, students can use their creativity and innovative skills to design nets or other methods, theoretically and/or through hands-on building, that fisherman could use to help avoid bycatch. ...less |
